Arctic Grind Saariselkä - Saturday July 20th 2019
Arctic Grind Saariselkä takes you through the rough and unspoiled nature of Finnish Lapland way above the Arctic Circle. Experience the landscape views atop the “tunturis” (rounded mountain tops) and discover some of the best gravel and forest roads in the area. Distances from 50 to 150kms with a decent amount of height meters. The event area provides accommodation, catering and rental bikes. Airport shuttle from Ivalo airport can be booked.
The track runs along the gravel and forest roads around Saariselkä. Along the way, there will be some short tarmac sections as well as forest trails. The trail map will be published in detail late May, once the snow in Saariselkä melts and we can verify the track. Saariselkä is located in the fell area of Northernmost Finnish Lapland. The village is surrounded by two big wilderness areas – Urho Kekkonen national park and Hammastunturi wilderness area. The roads run through the arctic forest and fell sceneries. Some major climbs and descents will be included in the trail.
